Get Your Two Cents Into Videos With YouTube ‘Annotations’

YouTube videos just got a little lippier, thanks to a brand new set of features dubbed “annotations.”

Content creators can now mod their videos with clickable links and chat bubbles — handy for plugging in quick facts, subtitles, key points, background info and links to related videos and websites.

All cool enough, but the most intriguing tweak by far is the newfound ability to slip in links to different YouTube videos, to create interactive “choose your own adventure” style narratives.First impressions: Clicking through to different video “endings” is a bit choppy, but, seeing as the service is still in beta, that’s not surprising. It’ll be fun to see how the YouTube community of vloggers, marketers, and after school comedians choose to wield their new textual prowess.
